I’m not praising the Monday, really. However, there are things for which I am grateful this Monday. So I shall commence singing the praises of those things!

First, let me say that I would make a crappy politician. See, I can’t just nod, shake hands and move along. So when I said I got a rejection letter on the same day I lost a contest, and all the bloggers and all the writers and authors from my Yahoo groups came out to send me email and post comments here and at Lex Valentine… well, I was touched. And I spent like the whole day sending and posting thank yous. I can’t just nod and move along like a politician. I most sincerely appreciate all the encouragement I’ve received from everyone.

I do have to mention three people who most especially deserve an extra thank you from me. First to Jen, for her constant encouragement, for helping me with Silver Linings from the moment I finished the first draft, and for wanting to see Alex and Maris get pubbed. Next, to Jason X for the comment that had the most impact with me. And finally to author and editor Mary Winter, who took the time to read and critique Silver Linings and email with me on Saturday night. I’ve added 2K words to this story and it’s going someplace I never thought it would go. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

Next is my Marcus for this Monday. I found a few new photos of him this weekend. Some not as flattering as usual, but that’s okay. My guy is getting older. Lots of women don’t think he’s the thing anymore because he’s almost 40. My reply to that is how many men look this hot at 40?

And finally for today, Dawg, who is one of my most favorite reads now, has gifted me with a cool award, which I can now pass on to others! I love the ones I can pass on. Spread the love! Thanks, Dawg. You’re awesome!

Here’s the rules of the award:

So here are seven eight of my favorite blogs (while trying not to give it to someone who already got one):

  • It’s Just Justin - Sweet, hot guy. Awesome photography. Plus, did I say he was hot?
  • Banal Leakage - A day without Marty is not a good day. He’s one of my fave people!
  • Tech-Babe - TB is a snarky, sexy IT girl with a heart of gold.
  • Kapgar - Why I didn’t start reading him sooner, I just don’t know. I must have been brain impaired.
  • Redneck Romance Writer - I can’t miss Jen’s blog. I get twitchy when I do.
  • Bagwine Ruminations - I love a man who posts meat on his blog and no one does that better than Matt-Man.
  • Why? What Have You Heard? - Mojo is another blogger with great photos. Plus, he’s just a little naughty too.
  • West of Mars - No list of my favorites is complete without Susan and her rock band.

Give those people a read, if you’ve never read them before. There is a reason I visit them! Happy non-rejection Monday!

I Is Not Down

Author: Winter  |  Category: Randomness

I’m not up, but I’m not down. No, I’m not really being cryptic. I’m explaining my mood, because I *ahem* got a rejection letter. You can read all about the letter over at Lex’s website. I went into detail about the letter itself and some stuff about online versus real. The only thing I can really think of to say about people who still think like that is… Hello! Technology! Get a clue that life changes, especially in how we communicate with others. It’s 2008, almost 2009, and 1992 is a looooooong way in the past.

So anywho, I’m not in an upbeat mood per se, but I’m not depressed about the rejection either. I’ve been in a funk somewhat this week, but it’s not writing related. Although, maybe I should be more in a funk about that because then I wouldn’t be so damned achy missing Rott.

Here’s what’s happened this week: I won two writing contests at WritersCafe.org, where no one knows me but Elfenkate. At Zanctuary, where they all know me, I lost the writing contest to my friend Jen of the ample bosom. I learned to make videos with Windows Movie Maker. I actually made 2 movies! Woo hooo! The SIM card on my phone died and scared the crap outta me. (I thought it was my new Dash phone until it finally threw an error message that told me the card was bad.) I got a photo in a text from my friend in Houston, showing me the front of his house, all ready for Ike. And I got into some aggravating stuff at the horse racing sim that kept me from writing. I’m so broke I’m in the hole and trying to figure out how to find the $100 that I need to make rent. I’ve been missing Rott to the point of tears since Wednesday night (a 9/11 thing I think). My birthday is drawing near and I think I’ve decided to cancel getting a year older since the only party that might come close to being a birthday celebration will be in Orlando, but I won’t. I forgot to order coffee creamer with my grocery order. I lost the spiked end of one of my gauged earrings and had to change out almost all of my piercings (no mean feat cause the little balls are… um, little.) And then this morning the rejection letter. So, I’m not happy happy joy joy.

Yet, inexplicably, I am not depressed. Freaking Galveston is destroyed! I’m blinking at CNN, and am glad I don’t live there. I’m ogling that cute Rob Marciano who, oddly, looks a thousand times more attractive with a day’s growth of beard on his face. I’m looking out my window at the overcast sky and thanking whatever scientific thing that causes weather for slightly cooler temps here. (Of course, it could be that my 3 neighbors have finally stopped using their dryers. I live over the garages. All 3 neighbors do laundry every day so the garages are like a steam bath because the dryers don’t vent OUTSIDE.) Still, not depressed in the least.

I’m gonna catch up on blogs this weekend. I hit that kinda blah patch last week, mostly due to the sim aggravation, and just couldn’t read a thing. Well, except for a short story about a werewolf girl who finds her mate and ends up handcuffed to a bed. HEH. Written by the lady who created the Lex Valentine site for me. Hot reading. I think it was the high point of my week.

I’ll be around to visit all of yas. I need to find out what else has been going on in the PRB that I’ve missed. Congrats to my friend Jen for winning the Z contest. Congrats to Vahid and Hellohahanarf for winning the RAP award. Congrats to Dave on his commando vacay. (Per Gooster, Dave is officially the Commando in Chief for Commando Fridays.) Congrats to the author Jen for finishing her edits. Oh, yeah. Yay me! I did win two contests and learn to make a video (sorta - if you look for lexvalentineauthor at You Tube you’ll find them).

I know just what will complete my week… anyone want a kitten?

Luvs yas!

TeeVee Eye Candy

Author: Winter  |  Category: I'm Over There, TV, hotties

I don’t watch teevee. Want to know why? Go to Snackie TeeVee and you will find out! I’m over there expounding on my teevee-less life. Well, not completely teevee-less life. I watch teevee for the eye candy. Oh, and not just any eye candy, but specific eye candy.

Christian de la Fuente from In Plain Sight.

George Eads from CSI.

You’ll know what I’m talking about if you go read the post: Winter Hates TeeVee - Almost.

Happy Tuesday!

Peaceful

Author: Winter  |  Category: Better Than a Hot Blogger, Lex Valentine, Marcus Monday, Marcus Schenkenberg, writing

There’s something to be said for a routine. It’s peaceful. It was a little hectic this weekend launching LexValentine.com and all, but overall, I’m so glad it’s up. Having the site go live was so inspiring that I got several Bar posts done and started the menage story. While it’s true that I have other works in progress that need some time and energy, I have to go with whichever characters are talking to me. Today, it was the new menage trio.

At any rate, it’s back to the Monday grind here with a little Marcus and a shameless plug for the Better than a Hot Blogger calendar. Cissa Fireheart sent me a photo! Where is YOURS? I really will start stalking your Flickr accounts. I know where they are after all! Send them to winter at winterheart dot com.

So here’s a yummy Marcus for Monday. I was thinking of him a lot this weekend because I had to write about Alaric and Alexandria. Oh, and I made a Photoshop picture of them again, a baby bump photo. Maybe I’ll post it later this week. Do a Thursday Thirteen on graphics again or something. Oooh, look at Marcus! He has the nicest arms…

Please stop by and visit my new author website!

Have a simply great Monday!

Smut Writer

Author: Winter  |  Category: writing

Many thanks to Celia Kyle of Get Cesigned and to Jester. Here’s why:

If it weren’t for the fact that I hate squeeing… I would be squeeing. Since I do not sink to that level of fluffiness, I will just say that I cannot stop grinning. I haven’t arrived, but I’m on my way.

Many thanks to all of you who heaped encouragement on me. You know who you are, and I love you all. I’m gonna do this. Now click that banner and go visit!

Sunday smut writer kisses to everyone!

Popped

Author: Winter  |  Category: Better Than a Hot Blogger, pimping, whining, writing

I have a crappy life. All I do is come here and whine.

My air mattress popped. For those of you who read my Princess and the Pea post, you know how devastating a popped air mattress is for me. I can’t sleep. My hips feel bruised. I am thoroughly out of sorts. The new mattress better come today or I’m in deep shit in the rest department. I can’t write. I’m irritated. I’m grumpy. Bah!

On a happier note, Ce from Cesigned is making my author website for lexvalentine.com. I’m soooo excited. I had Jester look at the first mockup last night, and he pointed out all the same things I wanted changed so I feel good about being on the right track with this.

I submitted a 5K word piece to Wild Rose Press last night too. Thanks to Jen for helping me with the query letter. It’s for their Cougar Club series. HEH. Yeah, I’d say I know a thing or two about the whole older woman/younger man thing. I have no experience whatsoever with men my age or older. Young and hot? That would be what I know. Yes, I know I’m pathetic. ;)

Oh, and by the way, since I didn’t blog yesterday I’ll say it today - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN! Stop on over at the Redneck Romance Writer and wish Jen Happy Birthday. She’s always so supportive of my writing. She’s just a great friend to have and I appreciate her muchly!

I’ve been busy over at the horse racing sim too. Moderating can be tiring! There’s a couple of threads of arguments going on and I have to keep an eye on them. So I started posting little flirty remarks reminding them not to name call or say bad words. I got accused of being lovey-dovey! ME! My reply had something to do with knowing the difference between lovey-dovey and flirty. And besides, a couple of those guys are hot. I’m allowed a little harmless flirtation, right?

I have not yet received a single photo for the Better Than a Hot Blogger calendar. C’mon, people! Send a photo, or I will just stalk your Flickr accounts and pick one myself! Do you really trust me to choose?

I’m planning a little something special for my blog for Halloween week. Not only is it my birthday on Halloween, but this blog is themed rather appropriately for that holiday. So I’ve got some “stuff” in the works, not the least of which is that there will probably be a guest post on my actual birthday of Halloween. I got in on the winnings over at Whall’s a while back and one of the prize choices was a guest post. So I asked him to do one on my birthday so I don’t have to. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for Halloween at this batty blog!

My back hurts. Have I said I feel bruised? Not to mention that I really do still have bruises from last week’s fall. Ack. I’m gonna go suck down some pharmaceuticals. You all have a spectacular Friday!
