In God’s Garden

Author: Winter  |  Category: friends, sadness

Last night we lost one of our own. I didn’t know her well, although I knew a lot about her life because of the kind of person she was – open and giving. I did have the privilege of exchanging emails with her over an issue, and found her to be intelligent and full of the kind of grace that most of us can only dream of having.

Today, Lisa from Clusterfook walks in God’s Garden… Finally, cancer-free.

God’s Garden

Through the mist I see her face
Looking down on me
Don’t know the time, don’t know the place
Let her eyes watch over me
She comes in deepest sleep
Can’t help but fall at her feet
Won’t let her in for all I’ve seen
This I will take to my grave
I see her walk on water
head held up high
Playing in God’s garden
I’ll be there to hold you when you cry
The path grown over through the years
Walking on the pain towards my fears
Talking to myself for comforts sake
Holding on so I won’t break
Sometimes I hear angels sing
Their tears wash away my sins
Don’t know what my destiny will bring
Just spend eternity with me

My heart goes out to Lisa’s family. May they have the strength to endure this pain, as she so courageously did.

My Cherry’s Popped!

Author: Winter  |  Category: Lex Valentine, confessions, contests, writing

Actually, my publishing cherry will be popped tomorrow on Sunday. That’s the day The Wise Guy is released by Noble Romance Publishing. This book is the most recent contract I received, but the book is being released just before the first two books of the Tales of the Darkworld.

sunday-500

If you want to read more about the book and all the people who did things to actually help me make this happen you can run over to the Lex Valentine blog and read the post about Release Day. Here, I want to talk about this book and the whole getting published thing in a different way. You see, these books are seeing the light of day at a cost I never realized I would have to pay. Yes, this has been a lifelong dream, a dream I NEVER thought I would achieve. The fact that it’s happening strikes at something inside me that I can’t even find words to describe. It probably feels akin to how Obama felt when he took the oath of office. But getting here hasn’t been just hard, it’s been costly.

In order to make my dream come true, I had to give up something I loved. It hurts fiercely and I wear my guilt daily. I had to give up daily reading and commenting on all your blogs. I still play catch up in my feed reader here and there and when I see links on Twitter. However, I really don’t like missing out on your lives and feeling close to all of you. It bothers me very, very badly to the point where I wonder daily if this is all worth it because I feel disconnected from your lives and that makes me unhappy.

Here’s a case in point, (I’m baring my soul and my neuroses here so bear with me) I had this idea for a little graphic, a funny little thing I could use here on this blog when I have a book coming out. I wanted to email Dave and ask him if he would make it for me, but I felt too guilty to do so. The idea was a small round graphic with Lil Dave and Bad Monkey that says “Guaranteed NO TVC”. For those of you who don’t remember the joke, Dave coined the term “Throbbing Vampire Cock” to describe some of my writing. It was hilarious and endearing and so very Dave. But I don’t feel right asking for something when I can’t even find the time to read him every day let alone comment especially when he was so incredibly helpful when I wanted to use his Hawaii images in author AJ Llewellyn’s book trailer. (AJ is now a Blogography fan because of Dave’s Ann Coulter posts!)

Despite the fact that I’m a BAD friend because of chasing this dream, I know that people like Hilly, Marty, Britt, Becky, Susan, Jen, and a host of others including my Bar Bitches and everyone of you who are reading this, all are rooting for me and continue to support me. I can’t tell you how much I love you people. And Gooster… you are the bestest Twitter hug giver of anyone in the world! (I was so close to sobbing on Friday and his Twitter hug saved me.) Eventually, I have to figure out time better or the fucking guilt is just gonna kill me and I’m not even Jewish. (See? I know Mr. Shiny is just gonna laugh at that and not come over here and kick my ass for it. Heh.)

So to celebrate the release of my first book EVAH, Jester offered to have me on his show on Wednesday the 25th at 7 pm Pacific time. I’m really looking forward to that because for one, I’m going to give away a copy of the book to someone who either calls in with a question or comment or who is in the chatroom. I’m also going to give away a book to one lucky commenter on my blog from today until the end of February.

If anyone wants to actually spend their money on the book, it will be available tomorrow morning at Noble Romance Publishing. Clicking that link will take you right to The Wise Guy’s page. If you’re not up on your kinky sex you might want to skip the sex in the kitchen scene. Um yeah, squick alert there…

I’m out of Kleenex so I need to go, but just so you know, The Wise Guy is guaranteed not to have any throbbing vampire cock.

Drinkin’ Sexy

Author: Winter  |  Category: Marcus Monday, Marcus Schenkenberg, contests, hotties, whining

So I finally got someone to draw me a winner in my blogiversary contest. I numbered everyone’s name randomly and asked my friend Lisa Alexander-Griffin to pick a number and she chose… BLUEPAINTRED’s number! WOOT! Now, I know BPR lives for her coffee so I’m gonna send her a Sex Toy coffee mug from the RottNRoll store. Now, BPR… you gotta email me so I can get a mailing addy. Winter at winterheart dot com. You’ll be drinkin’ sexy in no time!

So it’s almost 8 pm and I forgot it was Monday and I needed to post Marcus. Since it’s still Monday, this isn’t technically late. I don’t even wanna get into why I forgot about him this morning. It was a slightly stressful morning… oh hell, I’ll tell.

One of the editors I know was having a contest… well, 4 contests actually. I have an entry for one of the contests. Winner gets the cover and a contract for the story. Well, she resigned and asked me to take the submissions for the contest and pick winners. YIKES! All that work I did… I can’t judge my own entry! Egad! So I had to find some people to judge those entries for me. Stressful indeed.

And now back to my regularly scheduled Marcus. Man, I need to ogle him tonight. I’m tired. How about something sweet and sexy?

What a cute smile! He looks good for an older guy. I’d still take him if he was being given away. I wish. HEH. Make sure you send BPR some congrats for winning a Sex Toy mug!

Hope your Monday was great!

Coming Soon

Author: Winter  |  Category: Marcus Monday, Marcus Schenkenberg, Motley, Talk Shoe Radio, contests, hotties, music, writing

I’m in a rush this morning cause I did not want to get out of bed! UGH! At any rate, here’s the deal, coming this week from me is a post with my Blogiversary winner. You thought I forgot, didn’t you? I did not! But Motley is keeping weird hours and I need her to draw the name. I can’t believe she is playing WoW now. I’m starting to hate that game.

Also coming soon is my first book release The Wise Guy on February 22. On February 25, Jester has me in the hot seat, along with any of the other authors I can drag there from the series that The Wise Guy is in. On March 5, Book One and Two of the Tales of the Darkworld will be released. Shifting Winds and Hot Water both had their videos revamped this weekend to include the publisher info.

You don’t want to miss Hot Water’s video, in particular. It features a naughty Liz Phair song, and a thank you at the end to the three bloggers who let me “immortalize” them in the book. By immortalize I mean that I took a few aspects of their personalities and used them in an immortal (think dragon, elf and wildling) character with their name. Mostly, the characters are fiction, but there’s a tiny little bite of each of these men in the fiction so I think you’ll recognize them.

And now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for… my Marcus!

x308

Here he is on the catwalk with Naomi Campbell. They’re wearing mirrored swimsuits. I want to see the reflections between his thighs… Pretty freaky looking suits, eh? Still, he’s mostly naked so I’m down with that.

Have a spectacular Monday!

Romance with the Crue

Author: Winter  |  Category: Lex Valentine, music, worries, writing

Marty had a great blog post about You Tube and Warner Music Group recently. Like Marty, the way WMG has treated the music in videos situation affects me. Not that I had any videos stripped of their music (yet anyway) the way Marty did, but in the way I go about searching for a song for a video.

Last night I decided to try to make a video for my first book release. I’d been thinking about this ever since I got the cover art, and frankly, I hadn’t had a single idea! So I was puttering around last night listening to different things on Imeem when Motley (Nikki) needed to put some songs into SAMS for her radio station, Wild Side Radio. I asked her what to put in and she replied, “Lots of rock. Lots of Crue.”

sunday-500

I’m not sure why that statement had me running to listen to my Motley Crue collection as soon as I had SAMS up and running, because you know nothing says ROMANCE like the CRUE. LOL Anyway, I’m sure glad I did! You wouldn’t think that Motley Crue could even have a song appropriate for an erotic romance. But they did. They do! Unfortunately, the moment I realized I would be using Motley Crue, a HUGE band, I went racing to see if they were one of Warner’s bands. Didn’t see their name on the list, but I was still sweating it until the vid went live.

Here’s the video for my book The Wise Guy. I’m really pleased with it so I hope you like it!

There’s plans in the works for a virtual release party or parties on February 22. I’ll be posting more about that when the deets are finalized. Hope you have a great Friday!

Have You Heard?

Author: Winter  |  Category: Uncategorized

The new season of the Jester Show is back! And Jester is serving up a hot political topic on February 4 when his guests are the authors of the I Do anthology,  a book supporting marriage equality. All the proceeds from this book go to Lambda Legal to help fight Prop 8. The show is at 7 pm Pacific time and I hope you all will come! If you’re not interested in buying the book for yourself, perhaps there is someone you could give it to. The cause is a worthy one!

Now, for a Marcus this Monday… Hmmmn. I had two Marcus’ last week so that BPR could have a taste of cowboys, but I’m thinking something more sophisticated is needed today.

marcus08

Oh, who am I kidding? I want the crotch shot too! Oh, baby!

ckckw100

Last week on Twitter, Marty and I were talking about You Tube and how some videos had the music stripped from them. I had to make vids for 2 authors yesterday and believe me, I looked at the Warner list first to make sure they weren’t on it. Sheesh. Crazy stuff. If you make videos and use music in them, you might wanna hop over to Marty’s blog for more info.

Okay, peoples! Here’s hoping you have a great Monday! I’ll see you all at Jester’s show on Wednesday night! MUAH!
