A Few Words

The memorial post over the weekend seems to have dried up my words this Monday. I’ve only a few for you! However, I do have a Marcus and a freebie! WOOT! And maybe once Fire Season edits are done (tonight, yes, tonight!) I can concentrate on a post about the babies. Well, that won’t be here but over at Flirty Author Bitches where I posted the first time. I’ve had two new releases. I’ve got more coming up. If you would like a Pixie Prince bookmark or two, please send me an email with your snail mail address. I don’t have a release date yet, but everything is done according...

Topsy Turvy

My life is like a circus and everything is all topsy turvy and weird. I don’t know what’s going to happen in my relationship. Certainly, my gut is speaking loudly in negative terms which makes it difficult to be positive. I still have not been able to shed a tear which somehow makes dealing with things more difficult. Usually, if I can spout a few tears, I feel more at ease and more able to cope. Unfortunately, the only times I’ve actually felt like the tears could come out, is when I’ve been at work.  That makes it an automatic blink them back, swallow them, choke them,...

The Motherlode

This weekend Motley turned 20. No longer a teen yet still my baby. We celebrated with some Claim Jumper yummies delivered to our door including a slice of The Motherlode. Have you ever seen this thing? It is a chocolate explosion. An overdose. I think I could only eat about 3 bites of it today after having had one layer of the slice yesterday. Man. What a way to turn 20, overdosing on chocolate. I talked about giving birth to Motley over on the Flirty Author Bitches blog, explaining that I’d been in the hospital for over a month. I’d been really sick and once they induced labor I got...

15 Minute Break

It’s pretty sad (or daunting depending on your outlook on life) when I have to use my 15 minute break at work to get my blog post up. I didn’t exactly forget it this morning, but I ran out of time. I didn’t sleep much last night between my sore throat and the fact that I was on the last bit of work on Fire Season. Fire Season is now off with the betas (thank you Jason Edding, Ethan Day, and Kris Jacen!) and my editor has it too. Anything the betas find I’ll work on in edits. Edits for The Pixie Prince are next and I’ll be getting edits soon for Ain’t Nuthin’...

Men Have Emotions?

That’s the question I’ve been asking myself all weekend. You see, my nice, neat 30K M/M dragon shifter story Fire Season has become a full length novel… pretty much. And no, it’s not done yet despite having had a May 1 deadline. I’m at 44K and I think it’s gonna hit 50K which is the low end of the full length novel mark I think. The reason this story has gotten so big is because… men have emotions apparently. At least, my dragons do. And their emotions confuse them, which in turn angers them. Oh, and they get horny at the least little thing and have to...

Got A Minute?

People use that phrase all the time when they need your help or want you to do something for them. Lately, in general, I don’t have a minute. But I never tell people, “No, I don’t”. It’s the same when they say, “Are you busy?” C’mon, I’m at work, of course I’m busy! And at home, it’s the same. I have a deadline so of course I’m busy. Ever wonder how much more you’d get done if you could have those minutes back? One day, as little private test, I tried to keep track of the minutes I’d spent elsewhere at someone else’s...

Mad Scientists

I had the opportunity to blog over at You Gotta Read Reviews over the weekend and I gave them a little insight into my mad scientist method of writing. If you get the chance, and you want to know how I do this, what makes me tick… check it out HERE. I do kinda have a method to my madness. It’s not much of one but mostly I have this GPS in my head that steers me toward what I need to do. First and foremost is hie myself to the cemetery and do the best I can at the job I’ve held there for 10 years come June 14. Like any job, there are things about it that annoy me on occasion,...

Glitchy

I was busy writing all weekend but another writer popped into Word Wars to explain the #amazonfail that was all over Twitter yesterday.  Apparently, Amazon stripped rankings from lots of books with “adult content”. Well, the stripped books turned out to be books with decidedly GLBT themes.  Ron Jeremy’s book still had it’s rankings. So did the books about dog fighting and building bombs.  Some authors I know who write GLBT themed books that don’t even have sex in them were stripped of rankings. A huge outcry ensued… So there’s a petition traveling round....

Ashes

I remember Jester talking on Twitter about reconnecting with people from his past on Facebook.  I haven’t done much with Facebook but recently,  I was talking on a Yahoo group about what inspired my story Silver Lining that will be out in July and I thought of a way to try to reconnect with some people from my past.  It worked and I connected with a guy I’d known more than 20 years ago. He was best friends with a guy I’d been seeing. Now, for those of you who don’t know or don’t remember me talking about Silver Lining, what spurred this story was the fact that I’d...

Questicles

As most of you know, Motley has been playing WoW. She has a guild called Questicles so I made her a forum for it. My new hosting company has auto install of phpbb boards so I had her up and running in less than an hour. She’s been enjoying herself playing both horde and alliance characters. Then early this morning, she and a friend came upon a quest that made her – and me – sad. She had to find Hilary’s Necklace. Just looking at the two little cartoon kids fishing made me sad because I know that my friend is sad. In my head I heard that famous line from Casablanca, “We’ll...

I Won?

It seems that I did. I entered a short story in a contest for a cover and it turned in the highest score which makes me the winner. It’s kind of funny really because I had a story for this contest, but my critique partners tore it to pieces. That meant I needed to take the story apart and put it back together again. Fearing that I wouldn’t have that done in time to submit the story for the contest, I wrote a ‘companion’ story. The first story, Runaways, is about a werewolf who meets his mate on a train from Prague to Paris. The werewolf has a twin brother who is the head...

Train Wreck Winners

Thank you to everyone who came to Jester’s show last week when I was on. I very much appreciate the support. Unfortunately, with the room scrolling by and my kid’s messy writing, we’re not sure exactly WHO the winner from the show was. It’s either Catherine or Cissa, and I truthfully do not remember who all was in the chat beyond Marty, Hilly, Dave, Howard, and Karl. That’s because they either called in or we talked about them. Motley has a name written down that starts with a C. To me it looks kinda like Cathy or Catherine, but it could be Cissa. So Catherine and...
