We Are the Waiting

Last night I watched Green Day do all of American Idiot on VH1′s Storyteller.  I just love that band. Their energy, their ability to turn their politics into music, their willingness to stick their necks out.  And I love how one of the titles suits us right now. We are definitely the Waiting.  We have an offer in on a house we really, really like (with a RED kitchen) and now we are the Waiting. I am both scared to death and excited beyond belief. And for once in my trial ridden life, I need something to go very right. I need this to go right. The house thing has eclipsed getting ready...

Racing

I’m in a big hurry. I almost forgot to post! But what is a Monday without Marcus? I could not let you all down! Here’s the deal. We’re looking for a house  (mobile home actually) in a big hurry. We saw one we like. Like the price. Love the park (out in a canyon.) There’s some issues. Meh. I don’t wanna jinx anything and we’ve not even made an offer or anything. Rott’s still thinking…but neither of us can get the place off our minds. So excuse my stress please. I finished Breathe Me In. LOVE this couple. Really, really do. And the trading cards for...

Tap, Tap, Tap

Shhhh! That tapping you hear is my keyboard. I’m on a deadline. Breathe Me In has to be turned in to my editor tonight. I’m in a rush to finish. No time for anything else. However, I do want to tell you that on Saturday night I won an award. The 2011 Ariana Award from EPIC for the best erotic contemporary romance…COVER. Yes, cover. Neither of my finalists in the book part of the EPIC Awards won. The other cover finalist I had didn’t win. Just this one. What a winner, eh? I was inspired, I swear. Tess’s book is seriously hot and I actually read it before I did the...

Belonging

Over the years, I’ve belonged to different groups on the internet. They always seem to fade away at some point. Not so much because people get bored with what the group does, although I’m sure there’s a portion that do, but because the dynamics of the group change. Back when Rott and I belonged to KNAC.com, the group started splintering because of new people joining and fights and wars that broke out. It wasn’t fun anymore so some people stopped going. That changed the dynamic of the group the extent that it wasn’t fun for other people anymore either and they stopped...

Bitten on the Ass

No, not me. Although, I was going to come here today and rant. Then I was asked a question and I decided the rant probably shouldn’t be aired in the way I had originally intended. I know, I’m being cryptic but I can fix that by telling you a story. I belong to a number of Yahoo groups. Authors who complain a lot tend to catch my eye. One author in particular who, in the past couple of years, has complained about eBook publishers and stated that self-publishing is the wave of the future, who has  complained about editors wanting to change her work, who has complained about various clauses...

It’s My Party

I freaking hate that song “It’s My Party.” It’s a whiny song. But unfortunately, I’m a tad whiny today. It’s a holiday. I’m home. I’m upset. I didn’t really sleep last night either. I’m not in the mood to blog. I’m not really in the mood to do anything except maybe cry some more which is stupid cause that’s what I did all night. It didn’t even ease my stress which is pissing me off. My Next Day Flyer order is all jacked up and when I try to call them the call keeps getting cut off. Grrr. I may have to go get a pedicure… Anyway,...

Autographed Copy

Today being Valentine’s Day meant that I needed to do something special as an author for the readers out there. It would look pretty stupid if an author named Valentine who writes romances didn’t do squat on Valentine’s Day, right? I’ve been pondering what to do for a week. And then I got these nifty little gold stickers in the mail. I bought them for the book signing part of the Romantic Times convention. They say “Autographed Copy.” So what I’m going to do is post over at my Lex Valentine blog and devise a contest of some sort that will include people...

What Was I Thinking?

Umm, yeah. I registered for the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention. Do you know how much money that was? And how much the rooms are? And the parking? And all the stuff I have to buy (like a suitcase) because I don’t travel? And all the promo stuff I have to get? Good thing this convention is deductable for me. Still, please don’t tell Rott how much I spent… Actually, he has a fair idea. He already ix-nayed on the parking for 5 days at $35 a day.  “Oh, no. You can pay ME half that and I’ll drop you off Tuesday and pick you up on Sunday!” Yeah, right. I’ll...

Nosy

I’m surrounded by nosy people.  Some nosy people I don’t mind.  When my kid looks over my shoulder and says, “Whatcha doin?” I don’t mind.  When the neighbor in the building across from us has her mom over for a visit and the old lady sits in the window all day long staring into my house at Rott…I mind.  So if my immediate family wants to know what’s up, I find that sweet. When the neighbors, landlord, and other relatives poke their noses into things, I find that intrusive. Am I alone in this feeling of being intruded upon when relatives come over and...

Risk

I did taxes yesterday. I love the online programs for them. Sure I used to have a tax preparer’s license but I love doing them online. They ask you all the questions and you click yes or no or continue. Sometimes you fill out a box or two.  They import your data from last year’s return and it’s just too easy. You can practically do it in your sleep. When you have a business like I do (author=business) you get to answer a whole slew of different questions. I always like the one where it asks you if all or part of your business is at risk. Uhhh. DUH. YES. Always YES. See, that...

Lush

Lately, I’ve not been able to produce too many words on my WIPs (work in progress.) Just too tired. Life at home and at work has just been frenetic. And I’m on my annual sabbatical from the horse racing sim too! I typically don’t race in December and January.  So you’d think I have a little more time than usual, but oh no. It is true that I’ve been watching some TV. Hard to resist concerts in high def and Rott is loving the Palladia channel.  The Foo Fighters concert at Wembley was amazing in high def. I was totally enchanted and spending time watching the new TV...

Resurrection of the Dead

Yesterday, I put Socially Dead back up. Motley wants to blog again but she wanted a less teenager-y template than Skully. Although she liked Skully, she was tired of the pale blue and pink.  So Motley’s back (hasn’t posted yet though) with a new template (Cold Stone, same as I use at Lex Valentine) but those of you who used to visit her will recognize Skully at once. There’s still some updating of info we need to do (I need to fix my CafePress stuff) but it’s all small stuff at this point. The blog has now been resurrected and hopefully it will have more of a life than...
